Both. Esteem Auto supplies cylinder liners and sleeves to global automotive OEMs as original equipment, and to distributors and workshops serving the replacement aftermarket. OEM programmes run to customer drawings and IATF 16949 controls, while aftermarket supply draws on the standing range of 350+ models across roughly 70 engine makes.

Liners are centrifugally cast, with molten metal poured into a die rotating at 1400-1500 rpm so centrifugal force produces a dense, uniform grain structure with fewer inclusions than static casting. Castings are then CNC turned, bored on dedicated special-purpose machines, plateau honed, and inspected before dispatch. The whole sequence runs in-house in Rajkot.

The terms are used interchangeably in most markets. Both describe the replaceable cylindrical insert that lines the bore of an engine block and forms the running surface for the piston. Some workshops use "sleeve" for a thin dry insert fitted into an existing bore and "liner" for a thicker standalone component. Esteem Auto manufactures both types.

An air-cooled cylinder block dissipates heat through external fins directly into the airflow, so it needs no coolant jacket, radiator or pump — common in smaller, portable and agricultural engines. Yes. Alongside liners and sleeves, Esteem Auto produces air-cooled, water-cooled and combined air-water cooled blocks. These are made using shell mould casting with resin-coated sand, which holds tighter dimensional tolerance than conventional sand casting — important for the fin geometry and cooling passages that determine how efficiently a block sheds heat.

Plateau honing removes the sharp peaks left by conventional honing, leaving a bearing surface with oil-retaining valleys. That combination beds the piston rings in faster, reduces oil consumption and cuts early wear. Esteem Auto plateau hones liners in-house and verifies the finish against Ra, Rz, Rk, Rpk and Rvk surface parameters rather than a single roughness figure.

Finished liners are checked on a Talyrond roundness testing machine, air gauges for bore diameter, a coordinate measuring machine, and a roughness tester for surface finish, with material composition confirmed by spectrometer. Because a liner's roundness and bore finish directly affect ring sealing and oil consumption, these are measured on every production batch.

The most common causes are scuffing from inadequate lubrication or overheating, cavitation erosion on the coolant side of wet liners, abrasive wear from poor air or oil filtration, and distortion from incorrect installation or uneven clamping. Material quality and bore surface finish also matter, which is why metallurgy and honed finish are controlled at manufacture.
