Esteem Auto manufactures custom and OEM casting parts to customer drawings, samples or reverse-engineered dimensions from its IATF 16949 certified plant in Rajkot, Gujarat, India. Parts are produced in grey iron and ductile SG iron, carbon, alloy and stainless steels, and non-ferrous alloys covering aluminium, bronze, brass and copper, so material is chosen on engineering merit rather than on what one foundry happens to pour.
Four casting processes run in-house. Green sand casting handles general shapes across a wide size range, shell moulding holds tighter dimensional tolerance and better surface finish, investment casting suits intricate thin-walled geometry, and centrifugal casting produces dense cylindrical parts. Patterns and tooling are developed in-house, which shortens development time and allows changes during sampling without waiting on outside vendors.
Machining is carried out on site rather than subcontracted. Turning, milling and drilling, honing, grinding and 4 and 5 axis horizontal machining are supported, alongside CNC turning centres, special-purpose boring machines, centerless grinding, ultrasonic cleaning and laser marking for part identification. Castings can be supplied as-cast, semi-machined or fully finished to drawing.
A first sample is produced from new tooling and measured on a coordinate measuring machine, with composition confirmed by spectrometer and mechanical properties tested as required, before series production is released. Custom castings are supplied to automotive, aerospace, oil and gas and general industrial customers, and exported to more than 50 countries.

How do I start a custom casting project with Esteem Auto?
Send a drawing, 3D model or physical sample along with the material grade, annual quantity and any inspection requirements. Our engineering team reviews the geometry, recommends the most suitable casting process and material, and confirms whether existing tooling can be adapted or new tooling is needed before quoting.
What information is needed to quote a custom casting?
A 2D drawing or 3D model showing dimensions and tolerances, the material grade or an equivalent in your own standard, the estimated annual volume, the machined or as-cast condition required, and any testing or certification needed. A sample part works in place of drawings where none exist, and quantity matters because it drives the tooling decision.
Can a casting be reverse engineered from a sample without drawings?
Yes. Where no drawing exists, dimensions can be taken from a physical sample using our coordinate measuring machine and profile projector, and the material identified by spectrometer. From that a drawing and pattern are developed. This is a common route for obsolete parts and for replacing components originally sourced elsewhere.
Which materials can custom castings be produced in?
Custom parts are cast in grey iron and ductile SG iron, carbon, alloy and stainless steels including austenitic, ferritic, martensitic and duplex grades, and non-ferrous alloys covering aluminium, bronze, brass and copper. Because all four families run in-house, material can be selected on engineering merit rather than on what a single foundry happens to pour.
Which casting process will be used for my part?
Process is matched to the part. Green sand casting suits general shapes across a wide size range, shell moulding gives tighter dimensional tolerance and better surface finish, investment casting handles intricate thin-walled geometry, and centrifugal casting produces dense cylindrical parts. Running all four in-house means the choice follows the part rather than a fixed capability.
Is a pattern or tooling required for a custom casting?
Yes. Sand and shell processes need a pattern, and investment casting needs a wax die, so every new part carries a one-time tooling step before production. Tooling is developed in-house, which shortens lead time and allows changes during sampling. Tooling cost is quoted separately from the piece price and depends on part size, complexity and process.
Can prototype or low-volume castings be produced before full production?
Yes. Sample castings are normally produced and approved before series production begins, and lower-volume runs can be supported. In-house pattern making and machining mean a sample can be produced, measured and adjusted without waiting on outside vendors, which is what usually determines how quickly a new part reaches approval.
What machining operations are available in-house for custom parts?
Turning, milling and drilling, honing, grinding and 4 and 5 axis horizontal machining are all available in-house, alongside CNC turning centres, special-purpose boring machines, centerless grinding and ultrasonic cleaning. Castings can therefore be supplied as-cast, semi-machined or fully finished to drawing, with laser marking for part identification and traceability.
What tolerances can be achieved on a custom casting?
As-cast tolerances depend on the process: investment casting and shell moulding hold appreciably tighter dimensions than green sand casting, and thin sections and long spans are always harder to control. Where a drawing calls for close tolerance, those features are machined after casting rather than held as-cast, which is why most parts are quoted machined.
How is a first sample casting approved before production begins?
A first sample is produced from the new tooling and measured against the drawing on a coordinate measuring machine, with chemical composition verified by spectrometer and mechanical properties tested as required. Results are reported for customer approval before series production is released, which is the sampling discipline our IATF 16949 system is built around.
Can an existing casting be re-sourced to Esteem Auto from another supplier?
Yes. Parts currently bought elsewhere can be transferred by working from your existing drawings, or by reverse engineering a sample where drawings are incomplete. Material is verified against the original by spectrometer so the replacement matches the incumbent part rather than simply resembling it, and sampling follows the same approval route as any new part.
What drives cost differences between custom casting quotes?
Part weight and material grade set the base cost, then tooling is amortised over the volume ordered, which is why annual quantity changes the piece price so sharply. Machining content is usually the next largest factor, followed by tolerance demands, testing and certification requirements, and the casting process the geometry dictates.
